Jungle Inn is a eco friendly boutique hotel, located river side on the Bohorok River, Bukit Lawang, North Sumatra. Jungle Inn was first established in 1987 by a local artist Indra.
Indra`s creativity is visible and evident throughout the Jungle Inn. Over time the place has evolved to what it is today, a beautiful, unique, tranquil getaway nestled in the heart of the rainforest.
Indra studied hospitality and tourism in Bali in the 1980`s before heading to Australia where he lived for six years. In the late 80`s Indra`s love of Indonesia saw him return to Sumatra to create his dream, The Jungle Inn.
For many years Jungle Inn was famous with the backpacker and party scene. Tourists would flock to the Jungle Inn as it was somewhat of an icon and the place to be in Bukit Lawang.
In 1996 Indra met an Australian muslim woman, Khadijah who was travelling the world. She stayed at the Jungle Inn and fell in love with the place and with Indra. Within three months they were married. Within three years they had three beautiful children, Taqwa, Annisa and Maulana.
Through a turn of events fate would have Indra and his family return to Australia once again.
Khadijah is big on the environment and is determined to rid the Jungle Inn of plastic. In 2017 the Jungle Inn removed plastic straws from the restaurant and replaced them with bamboo straws. Indra has installed alkaline water into each of the rooms so that guests have no need to buy water in plastic bottles.
The Jungle Inn`s focus is on providing a unique jungle experience that you will always remember.
We invite you to immerse yourself in nature and soak up the jungle energy at the Jungle Inn.
We look forward to see you soon.
